Loraaga awoke laying on her side staring into the dead eyes of a woman dressed just like her. Just like Loraaga the dead woman's hands were bound. She had no idea how she'd gotten herself into this. Loraanga lay in a prison wagon tipped on it side, the back gate open, outside she could hear scraping sounds, occasional grunts, and the sound of metal on metal. Crawling out the back of the tipped wagon she could see bodies of goblins and bandits scattered around, weapons discarded in death.
Scanning the way the bodies lay and the telltale sign of arrows sticking out of corpses it was clear the bandits attacked the goblins... or the goblins attacked the bandits, but it was not clear who owned the wagons.
Bending down she grabbed a dagger and proceeded to cut her bindings. Hands free she poked her nose around the back of the wagon to see two live goblins scrounging through the bodies.
Look at that wagon, now I know I missed my calling in life!! :P
Attempting to sneak up on the goblins with her dagger her foot catches a discarded weapon and sends it skittering across the ground alerting the goblins. Both charge her and blades flick back and forth. Loraaga opens herself up to a small scratch but lunges her dagger into a goblin ending its life. The still live goblin breaks and flees, Loraaga swings at it but misses. As the goblin takes off at a sprint she launches her dagger at it... and misses! This would have been the ultimate Xena like opening sequence had she scored a hit...
Snatching up a short sword she runs in pursuit. The race down hill into the forest doesn't last long as Loraaga trips and falls then gives up the chase. She returns to the wagon and begins to look around. When she realises there are no birds making noise she looses her nerve and crouches in the bushes at the side of the road and waits. Tired of that she sneaks off down the road heading west, the way the tipped cart was facing.
A few miles down what passes for a road in these parts she picked up the sound of a dog barking. Hunching down behind bushes she hears the sound of things crashing through the forest, a mangy war dog comes into view sniffing the path where she had walked.
Taking the initiative she charges and attacks, the dog dodges her initial swing and clamps onto her leg. Loraaga loosens its grip by cutting its head off. Noise alerts her to the dogs owners, two goblins armed with bows come into sight within charging distance. Startled the goblins loose two badly aimed shots as Loraaga charges and puts one down. The other rocks back on its feet and launches another arrow which sinks deep into her chest...
Look at that fire, a work of art! I really have missed my calling!! :D
She awakens to the smell of wood smoke and horse flesh. She hears a noise nearby and plays possum. The noise of something big settling itself down coaxes her to open an eye a crack. She see a man with broad features and a beaded beard before her but to her surprise from his waist down he was part horse!
A small conversation occurs over a waterskin as he stakes a rabbit and slowly cooks it over the campfire.
Dozing off to sleep she awakes to see the centaur gone and a goblin sneaking up on her seemingly sleeping form. Seeing her sword beside her she snatches it up and launches an attack. As she finishes the goblin off another comes in from behind her, she faces it and another comes at her, then another and another. She fights bravely but is pulled down to her death...
Loraaga wakes in a start, the centaur still staking the skinned rabbit.
"There's something in the water isn't here?" she asked.
No reply
"You're a shaman!"
Still no reply. The centaur looks at her as a cloth wrapped zombie attacks it from behind in gory fashion.
Her sword is no longer beside here so she snatched up a half burning log from the fire and smashes the zombies skull in with one shot! The centaur dead at her feet another shambling zombie comes in from another side of the camp. Facing off against it another zombies arrives, then another and another until Loraaga falls before them... My wife at I think this point walks from the table slightly pissed off... it could have been a combination of me messing with her with the two dream battles and from me placing a dracolich then a giant on the table when she wasn't looking... her reaction to the two "surprise" models was priceless and contained many four letter words! hehehe
Waking again before dawn, this time for real, she abuses the centaur, blaming the life like dream state on him and storms out of the camp.
Cooled down she comes back to the camp. The centaur (who even at this point hasn't divulged his name, only his intent on being in the area to hunt goblins) leaves her a cold cooked rabbit and a full waterskin, "We will meet again" it promises as it leaves.
Taking a drink from the waterskin Loraaga ponders what to do next...
